This full-on exciting 2 day course will teach you just that.
Axe's have been around for thousands of years, dating back to the stone age. It is one of the humanity’s oldest and most versatile tool, deeply intertwined with human civilisation’s development. A Hatchet style axe is classed as an all-purpose portable axe. So, whether you are chopping, splitting small logs, calving or as a general bushcraft camp use, it is a must have. Made from high carbon steel to hold a good edge and a hickory shaft which acts as a good shock absorber.
Our friendly professional blacksmiths will take you through the processes of forging, grinding, heat-treating and hafting your hand forged axe.
No previous experience required but having completed our other standard day courses first is an advantage.
The price is per person and you will be part of a group of up to 6 people with two tutors. £180 deposit and the rest £219 is due 6 weeks before the experience day.
What's included in the price?
A hearty lunch, all snacks and drinks are all included, along with materials and fuel for the coke fires.
