This full-on exciting 2 day course will teach you just that....
Axe's have been around for thousands of years used in many ways. This iconic versatile tool is very useful to have.
We will take you through every step in making your own German pattern hatchet axe. Our friendly professional blacksmiths will take you through the processes of forging, grinding, heat-treating and hafting your hand forged axe. Gransfors Bruk Hickory shafts are hand-made in Sweden.
No previous experience required but having completed our other standard day courses first is an advantage.
£435 for the 2 full days. Deposit of £180 at the time of booking is required, we will email you 6 weeks before the course due date for the final payment. If you wish to pay over a few instalments, this can be organised, just get in touch.
What's included in the price?
A hearty lunch, all snacks and drinks are all included on both days, along with materials, hickory shafts and fuel for the traditional coke fires.
You can buy a leather sheath and/or sharpening stone on the day to keep your masterpiece up to scratch and protect it from getting damaged.
Cancellation policy
You can reschedule your experience day anytime up to six weeks before you are due to attend by getting in touch with us via our contact page.

What to Wear-
No fleeces or coats that are highly flammable. We would recommend T-Shirts, Hoodies and/or sweatshirts
Over boot jeans. No shorts
Hair tied back and no jewellery
Sturdy footwear such as steel-toe-capped or walking boots
We provide all PPE which includes goggles, ear plugs and aprons
During the winter months, it can be freezing in the workshop until the fires gets going and in between demonstrations, so please wear plenty of suitable clothing.
